Still Knitting
I'm knitting the Francie socks and working on the baby blanket. It's tough to find the time. Luckily IVF #2 means lots of waiting at the doctor's office which means lots of time to knit.
Apparently I'm not responding as well as last time to 'stims'. What a drag. Things are still going fairly well, though. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers for a little while longer.

Earthquakes
If you've been wondering where we are, we're still here. The earthquakes haven't been strong enough to disturb us.
Still, we've had quite a time of it Chez Klint. Yesterday Ryan was giving me my shot of Follistim and HMG: the needle came off and the drugs went everywhere. Ryan was pre-med and has given masses of shots, so this was just weird.
I went in to the clinic and they roused up a doctor on a Sunday. He gave me my shot (in the arm, the big chicken) and handed me some replacement meds for tomorrow. They're in glass pipettes and he dropped them; they shattered of course. He gave me some new ones and I went back to the station to go home.
Couldn't find my multi-ride ticket anywhere and the subway maps were all in Japanese so I had to get the station agent to help me buy a new ticket. I couldn't get a new multi-ride ticket so I had to buy a second ticket at the transfer point. I checked the yarn shop on the way and they didn't have any matching colourways for the baby blanket I'm knitting for baby Schlitt-Dittrich.
I thought I'd skip the worship set and swing by our apartment to eat lunch and sniff my nasal spray, making it to church in time for the sermon. On my way home Ryan called: the baby was too clingy to allow him to sing during the worship set. I swung by the church hoping to make it a quick round-trip but once I got home David chowed his lunch (he wouldn't eat it before) and crashed. No church for me.
Phew! Ryan did buy me some delicious chocolates for Mother's Day, so it wasn't all tears before bedtime.
Today started out fantastic by comparison. I spent hours on my Wycliffe application and Ryan hung out with David. After Ryan got David to bed for the night he came back out to the living room for a cuddle... and I remembered I had to take some drugs (my Cabergoline, I only take it once a week). We looked everywhere for those drugs for an hour. I donned some gloves and went through four bags of trash. Ryan searched the apartment top to bottom, and all our bags and suitcases from our trip to Yokohama. Lastly we searched the tatami room where David was sleeping. I found them behind David's sock basket. Why were they there? No idea. Maybe I thought it was a 'safe place.' If you have ever lived with my mom, then you know that this is a sign that I have started turning into my mom. Not that she hid drugs around our house; it's more that she put all important things in a 'safe place' that changed every time. Then David woke up.
Now it's almost 1AM and I think I'll post a couple pics and go to bed.

Yokohama

We spent Golden Week in Yokohama with Frank and Momoko (my old college roommate). It was a blast, but some of our pics are of poor quality: when there is low light our camera just gives up. I hope we can score some photos from Frank! Here are a few (you can tell the low-light ones from the others).

Crazy Drugs Start Today
Thanks for the good wishes and prayers. Fourth go on the roller coaster, if you count the IUI and the FET.
I'm always amazed when my doc says things like, "Starting today..." Today he said, "Starting today, you will use the nasal spray." Probably some of you know exactly what that is. Sigh. I thought it was going to be one of those appointments where they just look up your skirt and tell you to start drugs on Day 1 or something. How could I forget the snorting drugs?
My doc is great, though. I really like him. Our clinic is quite far and we discovered that their other branch is 20 minutes closer to us. I don't think I can switch, though. I've gone through all the hassle of training the first clinic to not panic when I can't speak a word of Japanese, I don't want to go through that again.
They were going to translate a chart saying what happens on which days. All the drug names were in Pharmaceuticalish, so I was able to pretend that I could read and follow along. Awesome!
So sometime late May, if all goes well, David will have some sibling material forming in a petri dish. This time they offered us the option of 2, 3 and 5 day blasts. I'm going to turn to Dr. Google for a few hours and figure out our plan.

#2 Starts Tomorrow
I couldn't bear the idea of being late to dinner, so despite all the hassle of the language barrier I changed my appointment at the clinic.
They said it wouldn't change the date of retrieval or transfer, so it's not like we'll be missing a month or anything just to make this dinner.
I'm enjoying being able to drink coffee and go running just one more day. And then probably I'll get a week or two to continuing enjoying life (I'll probably quit coffee though) before the crazy drugs start. Oh crazy drugs, can't wait to get you out of my life!
IVF #2
Today is the first real appointment of IVF #2. David gets to be babysat in the child care area: his first time alone with strangers in his life (I'm not counting the 5 minutes he spent in Emergency getting his IV in). Poor baby.
The appointment kind of clashes with our dinner plans. Originally the appointment was for 9AM but because of David (I'm guessing) they changed it to 1:30PM. Dinner was at 4 and our clinic is over an hour away. Let's hope I get out of there fast!

DVD Recommendation
I'm doing something new on this blog: reviews of stuff I buy on Amazon. If you buy something at Amazon via the links on this website, I get a teeny amount in credit at Amazon. So if you read a review here on my site and decide to buy the reviewed product, please use the links in my review to make a purchase.
Here's my first review!
Prima Princessa Presents Swan Lake
Prima Princessa Presents Swan Lake is a walk-through of Swan Lake, presented by an animated fairy princess ballerina. Sounds pretty girly. But! Some of the principals are very athletic and muscular men. The lead character is a male ballet dancer. Some of the steps are demonstrated by young boys. So just think Billy Elliot
and remember that boys love to dance.

Many beginning ballet steps are introduced and demonstrated by ballet dancers, ballet students, animals, toys and by little girls in tutus. The proper ballet terms are taught.
David loves to dance, but he only has about four moves: spinning, jumping, hand-waving and what can only be described as butt-bouncing. David, at 13 months, hasn't tried any of the ballet steps yet, but he's only seen this DVD once so far. I hope this DVD encourages him to try out new dance moves.
The DVD is 33 minutes long; this is the perfect length for getting lunch ready or doing the dishes. Isabel gives this DVD an A+.
